Qualifying Final

2nd Grade QF vs Norwest Sydney

WCC 8/290(dec) DEF Norwest Sydney 100

After a well below par performance the week before and a big spray from skipper Tip Rat we rocked up to Rouse Hill very intent on playing well, especially considering we would have no 2nd chance. This do or die attitude proved golden as we produced our best team effort all season.

Winning the toss we made a positive decision batting, but losing Buzza in the first over had some onlookers doubting, Freddy came and went and we were struggling a bit, however Robbo (coming of a 111 last time against Norwest) and Billy (late inclusion into the team) knuckled down really well and played some tough cricket to see us to lunch only 2 down. Straight after lunch we lost Robbo for a well compiled 43 and Tip Rat came and went in quick time. Raj came in and he and Billy put on a 100 together before Billy fell for an extremely dogged and well made 65. Raj batted on with the lower middle order and made his maiden ton for WCC. Wickets fell around him, although Lenny helped put on 65 with him aswell. Tip Rat declared with 10 overs remaining leaving Raj on 120 not out with D-Mack also not out.

This decision proved to be a match winner with Red Bull and D-Mack bowling out of their skins to have Norwest 4/15 overnight. Determined not to be complacent we came back the next day and continued on with some intensity and steadily removed wickets. A couple of handy partnerships formed but we stuck to our guns and managed to roll them for 100. A couple of sharp catches from Raj and Tip Rat capped off our best fielding performance for the year which was possibly the most pleasing aspect of all. D-Mack ended with 4/23 and Redbull took 3. Tip Rat snared the other 2.

Overall a really well-rounded performance from 2nd grade, the whole team feels that if they put in the same level of performance for the next 2 weeks they will bring home the premiership. Burwood @ Rothwell next week will prove tough but by no means out of reach.

Hope to see as many WCC supporters out there.

4th Grade QF vs Norwest Sydney

Norwest Sydney 179 & 8/168 DEF WCC 9/105(dec)

After rolling Strathfield we turned up to our home qualifier right next to first grade full of confidence. Roger lost the toss yet again and we were out to field. Berry and Jonkers kicked us off with Jonkers taking one wicket. Alexander was brought on first change and claimed 3 wickets. Graham replaced Berry but didn’t trouble the scorers. Curry and Rupert bowled, Curry picking up three wickets from his 12 overs. Rupert was replaced by Graham and Curry replaced by Alexander. Graham picked up tow and Alexander bagged another.

A very chaseable target our goal, White battled through the over’s but unfortunately could not find a partner to stay with him at the crease. White batted very sensible and batted arduously for his 28 runs from 35 over’s. The next day Curry and Graham at the crease, Curry and Berry fell cheaply and yours truly was in. Graham and Alexander got the team to 105 and Graham was bowled. Jonkers got to have 2 whole balls to himself until Roger declared and we were back out there fielding.

What can I say other than Berry being the pick of the bowlers yet again bagged himself his third 5 wicket haul for the season. Berry bowled great and kept us in with a chance but unfortunately we could not bowl them all out. Curry also picked up two and Graham one.

Luckily for us Mac Uni won and we achieve a place in the semi-final. Let’s hope Dolbs can get a quick 222 again and it’ll be all over.

I leave you with this inspirational poem:

No more sorrow, no more pain

Only love and understanding is left to gain

No more words without meaning

Only phrases and gestures full of feeling

No more lonely days and sleepless nights

Only quality time filled with hugs so tight

No more thoughts of worthlessness

Only moments shared together engulfed in happiness

No more starving for attention and a look of disgrace

Only daily kisses accompanied with a warm embrace

Love is patient, kind and complicated

To make it work communication must be initiated

Louie and His words play a big part

Hold Him near and dear, close to your heart
