Round 6 VS Auburn

1st Grade Rd 6 vs Auburn

Auburn 252 def by WCC 6/273

The Mighty Men in Green dominated the number 1 team in their first grade competition on Saturday with the entire two days play controlled by the good guys with controlled bowling and batting to get another 6 points. Gus Kirkby made his De Poo and took 3 wickets and Guys Davies made a brilliant return to 1st grade cricket. These two gentlemen brought us back into the game after a hectic start from Auburn, where they were 82 for none off 8 overs. BJ making another epic comeback bowled with great control and rhythm to block up an end and ended up with 3 wickets. Auburn were bowled out for 256 which on a benign deck was a bloody top effort. Louie and S Ryan had a tough 6 over’s to face and were 4 for none at the end of play. Hard work in the nets again thankyou to Louie Mcmillian for his outstanding coaching this season saw the boys rock in with a quiet confidence of getting the 252 required. Louie and my self batted sensibly to take the score to 128 for none setting a brilliant solid platform for our lower order to launch from. We were 140 for 3 still confident and TJ strode to the crease one individual who does not hold back pummelled 100 off 54 balls ably assisted by a confident and mature 36 from Jordy Black who feed TJ the strike to break the backs of Auburn. 6 points gained next task Nor West Sydney Men in Green winning becomes a culture and this term is thrown about a lot, but to get a winning culture in cricket means working hard and keeping that work ethic up and not shirking away and making yourself better. The last three weeks in the club championship points we have gone from 11th to 8th to now sitting in 5th. We will strive to get to every practice or personal training session and keep working hard for the mighty men in green. “Championships are not won in December gentlemen”
