Round 8 VS Lindfield

Linfield 110 def by WCC 2/111
After the Christmas season and a number of beverages and good eating the boys came back looking very very healthy. Louies bum had got smaller due to his mammoth 99 in his last dig, Daniel Tabretts guns had become smaller over the break, his excuse was he was wearing a larger shirt, our comment to this was to get back on the roids(remember put it between your toes so they can not find the needle mark). TJ had finally stopped chewing his face off and TC had not beaten up a cyclist in 3 months and looked calm and collected. We saw this game as the start of our run into the semi finals. Our build up started here and 8 points, which we claimed was mammoth towards our goal. The boys bowled and fielded well against a below par Lindfield. I said to the boys 110 would be what we would roll them for. TJ’s and Graveys opened up and contained very well TJ getting the ball to hoop around causing the opening pair to have some issues. His final figures were 2 for 17 off 8. Ethan Collet sporting a new piercing, girls it’s not a prince albert but instead a long piece of metal through his eye brow. Playing with a cold and breathing like an old man Eth bowled beautifully the best he has all season and is looking good coming into the back end of the season. BJ and Bug bowled tremendously in the middle season with figures of 3-15 and 1-14 respectively. TJ the Greek god ran out there top scorer with an amazing throw from the boundary to keep the boys on a roll and we rolled Lindfield for 110. We wanted firstly to get the runs and reassess bonus points depending on the game situation. Scotty was out early and Louie Mcmillian with a commanding performance with the bat 4 6’s and 5 fours amassing 69 runs and ably partnered by Jordy Black 21 n/o took us to within ten runs of victory where 2 bonus point were on offer. JB and TJ took us to the win off 16.4 overs. This result is a perfect start to the second half of the season but has taught us that we can not rest in the back half of the season. We need to keep getting to Fatness and training 2 times a week to ensure we get as many teams into the semis as possible. Great work on maintaining 4th in the Club Championship but we need to work a lot harder in our goal of making the semis. All my love
PS I have now lost 11 straight tosses anyone have a suggestion how to turn this around

Chasing 163. 2/84 off 22 overs. 3/114 of 34 overs. 6/135 of 40 overs. 6/153 of 44 overs. All out 159. These things happen. Cricket's a funny game. There's always next week.
Danny Reynolds was a bit scratchy with the new ball but picked up a handful of wickets. Nathan Heath took 2/17 from 7 overs. Dominic Brogan and I also chipped in with 2 each.
Mick Goodwin led the way with the bat with 41. If he was a regular at Cuz's fatness training, he may have lasted a bit longer in the heat, but a good innings anyway. Tom Kaye (34) almost got us over the line before a freakish catch (in the context of an insipid fielding display by Lindfield) ended his innings. The other TK and Cuz chipped in with handy 20s. The rest of the batting was pretty disappointing in a situation where we seemed to assume that the runs would just score themselves. Thanks to other results we're still in touch with the top 6 but we can't keep playing cricket like that and hope to make finals.

I rocked up to Acron oval feeling pumped up for the match to come. Everyone was there except for Benny Pace. Where could big bad Benny be? As I sat in the change rooms mentally preparing myself for the match of a lifetime David Morris came and called me and a few others out to the wicket, it was hot but it didn’t bother me I am a mental and physical machine. As i was preparing my bowling routine Roger approached the boys and said I won we’re batting. As i was walking back to the change rooms i saw Benny approaching the field and then the look of disappointment and despair on his innocent little face as he is told he was too late and didn’t answer his phone so Chris Berry was on the way. Benny pleaded that he didn’t know it was a one-dayer and didn’t know he had to come early but it was no dice. Benny limped off back to the car disappointed and shocked. I thought to myself I’m gonna win this one for Benny. I sat in the change rooms ready to be called upon to open but shocked as i was, i see Scott White and Grobsy padding up. Rodger pointed and said simply number 10. I kept the pads on anyway and kept to myself in the change rooms psyching myself up mentally as Grobsy and Scotty started us off. I was running through the innings to come in my mind, i saw the six over mid-on, the 3 fours in a row through cover...it was going to be a great day. As i sat, ready for a huge innings i hear “that running is atrocious, absolutely atrocious”, curious i duck my head out to see Scotty just making the safety of the crease. He was dismissed shortly after and Lenny stepped onto the wicket. I’ll do better i told myself, i have to for Benny, for Benny. Lenny and Grobsy have already started smashing it and have already been dropped about 10 times. I should be IN!! A wicket fell and Gordo stepped onto the wicket and was hitting more sixes than fours but i didn’t take notice, today was about me. That should be me out there hitting the sixes over mid on and fours through cover, be patient i told myself plenty of over’s to come. Well Gordo the massive burglar was pumping it all over the shop; surely i should be in soon. David Morris strolls in and says your umpiring i thought back to the shocking decision i gave to give gravy’s out and said “no deal” but there was no arguing and next over i was out there with Chris. Gordo was smashing fours and sixes but he still said he hadn’t hit one out of the middle. As Chris and I finished umpiring i thought come on we’ve still got ages it has only been 40 over’s. I asked Rodger for a night watchman roll and he said it’s a one dayer idiot. Oh no! There was only 10 over’s left and i was number 10. As Lenny got out David stepped onto the field made a quick six runs then Craig Rupert was out there smashing easy 3’s but they were only one’s because Gordo was stuffed. Gordo got out and C**kstain was out there for a quick 6 n.o.
We were out to bowl and it was hot but it didn’t bother me, as i said i am a physical and mental machine. Jonker’s and Chris kicked us off but i was just counting down the overs until Rodger brought me on. As over’s went by and a wicket or two fell i was finally on and feeling good...until after a few over’s of getting pumped. Skipper Rodger kept me on for six over’s then i was told Craig was on the next. Disappointment at being replaced by a part timer who bowled better than me. As wickets fell and drinks we’re run on and off i was felling good for another spell but to my despair they were bowled out for not many. I was happy with my contribution of doing nothing but umpire and being a waste of over’s and we’d won. I had a great day.
Oh yea forgot to mention Gordo 101, beautiful, quickfire innings, Lenny Jones 65 very lovely and solid innings and 1-43 off 6 over’s, Grobsy 72, excellent one day innings, batted magnificently and Craig Rupert 26* off about 15 balls.
Also Will Jonker’s 1-21 off 5 over’s, great stuff, Chris Berry 3-42 off 8 over’s, excellent stuff very well bowled, Rodger Curry, 1-24 off 5 over’s, very well bowled and well captained and Rupert 2-36 off 9 over’s, Great bowling, pick of the bowlers.Plus a bonus point.Great game boys.ESSAY
